Library 2.0
I had a look around for a while to try to understand what is actually meant by the term “Library 2.0″ and even after a lot of reading I’m not too sure if I have got a handle on it. I guess that the main feeling I get is that Library 2.0 describes the way in which we ourselves use, and facilitate our library clients to interact with Web, 2.0 applications - we have joined Flickr, listed our books on Library Thing, played scrabulous on Facebook and are madly tagging everything for del.icio.us - so now how do we involve our library users to take advantage of this? From my personal perspective in a primary school library - particularly as a non-teaching staff member, I am simply trying to encourage others at school to get involved by just letting them know what I am coming across in my travels!

Exploring the Library Thing world is going to take some time! I found it easy to join - the hard part was then deciding what books to put on! Do I stick to the odd ‘cerebral’ title I read, or do I just cheerfully list everything I read (late at night chicklit books included!)
Decided that if I waited for the classier titles, my Library Thing shelves would be very bare indeed. So stay tuned for the complete list of what passes through my hands, supplemented by some of the ‘oldies but goodies’ from my shelves.
The first titles I entered were just names that came to mind - not in any order of importance - I hope to improve that time permitting.
I was interested in hearing a podcast by Tim Spalding, the creator of Library Thing and I would recommend it for a general look at how it came about, and some of the features available.
